"Wonder-ing" created temporal rendezvous for gathering memories of the aged residents in Damyang, Korea. Otherwise forgotten, the no-longer-seen looks of the area, revived through their voices. Based on the collected stories, the old scenery was re-constructed in the form of pop-up collage in the style of figure poem. 'Fishing for Tamsui' was a casual performance of fishing out the specific illustrative views of Tamsui - the largest port in the 19th century, then a small fishing town, and now a center for tourism- pointed out by the locals and visitors. ![]() A stranger would find the exterior of the common buildings rather exotic and characteristic ⎯⎯⎯ made with small-sized bricks/tiles. While such appearance describes the vicinity of Taipei in general, such notion came into focus. Tamsui’s impression was re-constructed by ‘filling in’ the blank (window) of red brick wall of the Imported Goods Warehouse. Nonetheless, it can be applied to any brick/tile walls that are easily seen in the area. |
